ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 Drivers For Windows 7

I got a request from a user asking drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 for his Compaq Evo Notebook Running Windows 7. Most notebook form 200-2005 (such as compaq Evo Series and Lenovo Thinkpad T42) have this type of graphic card which didn't past the Windows 7 upgrade advisor. So, after windows 7 installation you will notice that it only listed as Standard VGA with limited graphic capability.

Actually you can install the Mobility Radeon 7500 in Windows 7 using the original Windows XP driver. In this tutorial I will show how to install it in EVO N800c.

1. First download the SP27665 (original Windows XP driver for EVO N800c) and run the driver. You will get an error, ignore it, because we just want to extract the driver file.
(for other model, obtain the windows xp driver from your manufacture download site, if you want to use this driver for different model such as Acer and Toshiba, please contact HP for permission to use their software).

2.Now you will have C:\swsetup\SP27665 folder. We will use it later.

3. A device manager will open, right click on standard VGA and select update driver.

4. Select Browse my computer for driver Software.

5. Select Let me pick from a list of device driver from my computer.

 6. Now select have disk - browse and point to C:\swsetup\SP27665\Driver\2KXP_INF. Select the Inf file. (if you have more than one choice, choose the first one)

Click OK, next and continue with on screen instruction, it will flash a few second while installing the drivers. Reboot after finish.

Older Intel Graphic Installation (XPDM) For Windows 7

There are 2 types of Intel graphics for Windows 7 which is WDDM and XPDM. WDDM drivers or Windows Display Driver Model display 3D graphical user experience and support aero. On the other hand Windows XP Driver Model (XPDM) only delivers interface that resembles Windows XP and do not support aero feature with other limited functionality. The XPDM drivers available for the following older Intel Graphics:

Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family
Intel® 82915G/82910GL Express Chipset Family
Intel® 82865G Graphics Controller
Intel® 82852/82855 Graphics Controller
Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller
Intel® 82815 Graphics Controller Intel® 82810 Graphics Controller

The graphics above is categorize as  XPDM while WDDM only available from Intel 945 Express Chipset Family and Above.

Does XPDM Drivers Work With Windows 7?
It will not work, by default Windows 7 will only install Standard VGA drivers which provide basic display. The most common problem is user will not be able to get the maximum resolution and poor gaming performance.

Installing Older Intel Graphic In Windows 7.
There are several Method to install older graphic driver in windows 7. There are no one click setup method. You are require to perform several steps to install it. There are several method you can use to install it. I already wrote the instructions with picture for certain graphic drivers, you can also use the same method and drivers to install you older Intel graphic in Windows 7:

Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS, 910GML : Tutorial Link
Intel® 82852/82855 Graphics Controller : Tutorial Link
Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller : Tutorial Link

There will be not further development/support for this model which means Intel will not continue to develop new drivers for this graphics either for XPDM or WDDM.

Intel 82830M Graphics Drivers Installation For Windows 7

There is no driver for Windows 7 released by Intel or any other 3rd party website. So, in this post I will show how to install Intel(R) 82830M driver in Windows 7.

Before start:
- If you already have any Intel Graphic extreme system tray installed,  uninstall it first.
- If you success install the driver using the method I describe below, but the driver uninstall itself after restart, disable your internet connection during the whole installation process.
- the driver in this tutorial is from Fujitsu, you are responsible to comply with the T&C if you are using this driver for other model. The best way is to download the driver released by Intel on any website that distribute the driver. Since the download link changes, I'm unable to provide one from Intel, I only have the link from Fujitsu and Nec Versa website.

1. Download Intel driver version 6.14.10.3741, you can Google it or use the driver below:

Intel 830M/845 Graphic Drivers
File Name :ST4110,ST4120,ST4121_VIDEO_INTEL_V6.14.10.3741_XP.exe
Version 6.14.10.3741
File Size : 5MB
Description: This driver design for Intel 82830M and 82845.
Download Link From Fujitsu:Download (exe)
Download Link From Nec Versa : Download (zip)

The driver already tested on one of the Dell Machine and worked

2. Extract the driver we downloaded earlier. For this tutorial I make folder in desktop and name it as Intel and extract the driver in that folder. If you use the driver from Fujitsu, you need Winrar software to extract the driver file. Remember the path of the extracted driver folder, we will need it later.

3. Open device manager by click start and type DEVMGMT.MSC and press enter.

2. Look for Video Controller Marked with yellow, right click on it and select update driver:

3. Select Browse my computer for Driver software.

4. Click Browse and Point to the driver folder we extracted earlier.

It is important to select the right folder so it will found the driver inf file.
Note that the driver inf  file (file that required for driver installation) is in Win2000 folder, so it is better to browse to that folder. In this example I extracted the driver file on a folder on desktop so the location will be: c:\User\YouComputerName\Desktop\Inte\ST4110,St4120.ST4121_VIDEO_INTEL_V6.14.10.3741-XP
(look at the picture below).

5. After clicking next, the installation will begin and will take few minutes to finish. Don't worry if it take too long, it is normal. After installation finish reboot your system. If it prompt to reboot, please do so.

6. After reboot, you wait until you see a pop up message "new hardware found" or "Installing device software" or similar, just click on it.

7. Wait until the round circle gone (installation finish). reboot once again. (Force reboot if windows prompt something)

8. Wait until  you see a pop-up like in step 6 and click on it.

9. Another installation will take place. Reboot once again util installation finish and reboot once again. (at first it will only show "Intel(R) 82830M Graphic Controller, but latr you will see it will install all driver component needed as you see in the picture below). One driver will not installed (see picture) but ignore it.

Now your graphic should be listed on device manager as Intel(R) 82830M Graphics Controller and this means you are successfully installed the graphic drivers.

Additional Notes:
1. What to do if the driver uninstall itself after reboot?
-Turn off Internet, try different driver version or try with your original windows XP Driver.

2. Is there any other method to install this driver, yes, there are different method availble for example you cn read it here:
http://laptop-driver.blogspot.com/2014/08/intel-82865g82845g-windows-7-drivers.html

Do let me know the results along with your notebook model, your feedback could help others.

Intel® 82865G/82845G Windows 7 Drivers

 2. choose second option on the radio button "select program from a list of installed programs "

3. then select notepad

4. Just add any character to the begining of the text. Let's say we will add character x . So the text should start with xMZ and the rest of stuff. Save the file. This edit will render that file unusable.

example before we add text it should look like this:

after adding text it should look like this

PART5: FINAL STEP

1.First open device manager by click start and  type devmgmt.msc as shown in the pictures below.

2. In Device Manager uninstall Standard VGA Adapter.

3. It will prompt you to restart so do it.

4.After install you will see a message saying that certain devices did NOT installed successfuly, which is GOOD :).

5.Go to Device Manager and you should see the exclamation point next to "video controller" and "video controller (vga compatible)". Right-click on "video controller (vga compatible)" and SELECT update driver.

6.Choose "Browse my computer for the Driver Software" .

7. Then select browse:

 8. Then notice that in part 1 i suggest you extract the driver in new folder (folder name: intel graphic). After click browse point to the folder. expand by click the small arrow button until you find the win2000.

9. Wait for the driver to be installed. It might hang for a little (It will say that window is "not responding"). Do not worry as this is still installing the driver. It will prompt you to restart so do it. (If it does not prompt click anywhere and wait for message). After restart it will finish installing the driver.

10. Open c:\windows\system32\drivers\vgapnp.sys in any text editor. Remove the first character you put there which was x. Save the file. it should look like this before saving it (MZ - ignore other character)

Your file will be usuable again :). You can stop here if you want, but if you want to restore the permissions for the file to original state:

Right-click on any other file in the c:\windows\system32\drivers. Choose "Properties". Go to "Security" tab. Now compare that security tab with the security tab of c:\windows\system32\drivers\vgapnp.sys. Just make sure the security tabs of those two files look the same (all tabs and advanced options). In order to add "TrustedInstaller" it is not the same as regular usernames because it is a service.
You will need to type "NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller" (without quotes) when adding it to own the file and to have all permissions. Once you done editing you can delete your account from c:\windows\system32\drivers\vgapnp.sys, because it was not there from the beginning. We took control over and the previous commands added it by default.

Intel GMA3600/GMA3650 Drivers and Information

Intel GMA3600 and GMA3650 is based on PowerVR SGX545, the difference is GMA3600 clocked at 400Mhz and GMA3650 at 600MHz compare to PowerVR which clocked at 200MHz. We can say that GMA3600 and GMA3650 is not really an Intel GPU but a rebadged PowerVR SGX545.

GMA3600 : Mostly found in the Intel Atom N2600 processor and Atom D2500 models.
GMA3650 : Mostly found in found in Atom N2800, Atom D2550, Atom D2500, Atom D2600 and D2700 Models.

DirectX and Games Capability

Intel Originally claimed both GPUs support DirectX 10.1 but due to driver issues it only support DirectX 9.0c. This is not a big problem to discuss, because the GPUs itself cannot handle DirectX 10 games very well. Here is simple summary from Windows Experience Index:

Graphic: Desktop Performance for Windows Aero : 5.6
Gaming Graphic : 3D Business and Gaming Graphics : 3.2

Drivers For GMA 3600 and GMA 3650

I think it is important to list out all support available on one page, sadly I didn't found any solution for windows XP 64-bit. If you know or have information about it, do let me know in the comment section below.

Requirement:
  • The software should be installed on system with at least 1GB of system memory (RAM).
  • Intel® Atom™ D2500, Intel® Atom™ D2550, Intel® Atom™ D2700
    Intel® Atom™ N2100, Intel® Atom™ N2600, and Intel® Atom™ N2800
  • Intel Graphic Media Accelerator 3600 Series (GMA3600 and GMA3650)
Windows XP Drivers 32-bit

I found a driver posted by someone on the internet which worked with XP. I believe he/she already modded the drivers so that it is compatible with GMA3600. (more info below)

Intel Graphic Media Accelerator for windows XP 32-bit
Version 1.15.0.3278, 2.05MB
Download (4shared)

*You need to register (free) to download the files. I do not upload the file, just found it on the internet. If you dound other download link, share it with others.

You must Install it Manually : (example with picture here)
1. Extract the driver file, remember the extraction folder location. For this tutorial let just extract it to desktop. (you will need winrar or 7zip software to extract it)
2. Open device manager by click start - run - and type devmgmt.msc
3. Right lick on the IGMA 3600 (with yellow mark) and select update driver.
4. Select " no, not this time"and select "advance, install from a list of specific location".
5. Select don;t search I will choose the driver to install.
6. Click Have disk (also uncheck "show compatible hardware if that option available").
7. Click Browse and Point to the driver we extract earlier on the desktop.
8. Select the iegd.inf or iegd, OK and proceed with on screen installation.
9. Reboot after installation finish.

If you know about moded thingy then it is not hard to understand. Base on the driver version, it is originally  for Atom™ N2000/D2000 Series Embedded Media and Graphics Driver (check MSI Driver here - original file). When I look at the inf file changes was made in several part and worth to point out here is at the Localizable Strings section.

Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 32-bit Drivers:

    Windows 8 32-bit :
Since Intel does not plan to provide updates for this GPU anymore. We can only use Windows 7 drivers which show slight improvement over standard VGA graphic driver which automatically installed by Windows 8.
If resulting in error you need to troubleshoot compatibility (right click on the driver and select troubleshoot compatibility) and set to windows 7.

Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 64-bit Drivers:

Currently Intel and your notebook manufacture site doesn't provide any support for 64-bit. The only drivers that most people use is:

    GFX_Vista_Win7_64_8.15.8.1050_Beta5.exe

You can google it for download, here I listed several website that provides the download link:

    2. Version 15.15.3.64.1855 Foxconn |

You can also test with your original windows 7 graphic driver or download the version available on the Intel download center.

Latest windows 7 driver from Intel.
Download Link -Intel Mobile 4 series
Download Link - Intel HD Graphics

    Notes:
In-Box Drivers : Refer to driver provided along windows 8 installation. Windows will determine the best driver for your graphic and install them.  If you call tech center and they say you just need to use in-box drivers mean they are referring to "just use the driver which already installed and no need to install other driver".

    Install Using Compatibility Mode

    1. Uninstall Current driver on the device manager by right click and select unistall. To open device manager press windows key + R and type devmgmt.msc and then press enter.

    2. Then extract the drivers files and look for setup.exe file.

    Which Driver should I use?
     My recommendation base on priority:

    a. Latest windows 7 driver from Intel.
Download Link -Intel Mobile 4 series
Download Link - Intel HD Graphics

    b. Your original windows 7 drivers. (Download your laptop from manufacture site.)

    c. Test with driver version i listed on driver version.

    d. Try to use different version you can get.

    3. Right click and select properties - compatibility - run this program in compatibility mode for "windows 7" , the tick run this program as administrator. Apply then OK.

    4. After that run the setup to install and do not reboot yet, first change windows updates setting to "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them". Reboot after Installation.

If failed, you may try with diffent version or move on by installing the mod driver below.

ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 Windows 7 Drivers

    INSTALLING USING WINDOWS UPDATE.
Base on my experience installing windows 7 on Acer Aspire 4920G which use ATI Radeon X1350. Windows automatically install the drivers along windows 7 installation. After check for windows updates, windows also have a new updates for the cards and it is more stable.

    INSTALLING USING ATI MOBILITY MODDER.
You can also use ati mobility modder which is available at http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php .  I have a very long history with this site and it is one of the best site to get drivers or updates which is not available neither on manufacture nor official support site.

    TESTING DRIVERS.
For performance, I myself love to test with different driver version. You can try Original vista drivers for example for HP 531use sp40783.exe.
To install you need to extract the driver and set the setup compatibility to windows vista. You can also install manually using device manager. I have a good result installing vista drivers for V3000 model compare using the latest drivers form nvidia.

Nvidia GT 540M Windows XP Driver

This post is for tutorial purpose especially to work Nvidia GT 540M and GT 520M on Acer 4750.
There are no official release for the drivers, So do it at your own risk (read disclaimer first before proceed!), i don't hold any responsibility for your action.

    INTRO:
There are 2 possible way (so far) to install this graphic on win xp system. If you successfully install it please do share the information with us.

    A: MOD DRIVER
    B : EDITING INF

If method A didn't Work try method B, by he way i only tested method B with GT 520M. So for GT 540M I can't confirm it will work.

    A: MOD DRIVER

    1. Download Drivers
    Link: download (267.59)

For 64-bit you can search for nvidia 267.59 64-bit.

    2. Download the mod INF : not available you must do it manually by reading the tutorial below. I apologize for the inconvenience.

    3. Now copy the mod INF and replace the original inf in the extracted folder. Browse through 267.59 - Display.Driver - replace the mod inf.

    4. Then run setup.

    B. EDITING INF

    Download this Driver: 267.04 Driver.

    1. Extract the driver folder. (i recommend to install winrar)

    2. open device manager by click start and select run, type DEVMGMT.MSC and press ENTER.

    3. Right click on  video controller  and select Properties.
Since my graphic already installed, so it is different from yours

    4. Select Details and select hardware ID.

    5. Copy the hardware ID (press CTRL + C to copy).

    6. Open the driver folder we extracted, open the Display.Driver Folder and look for NVSM.INF and open it.
    open the NVSM.inf with notepad

    7. Look for the line show at he picture below. Then under it you will see the list of IDs.
After you find this line, look for the ID similar to your ID, this might be kinda PITA but worth it.Then look for the line like below.
    Example your hardware ID is:
Going through the list you will found similar ID,

    8. then  add one more line below it like the picture below. ADD new line below it like in the picture (and replace the RED line with your hardware ID).
See picture below how i add the line

    9. save and run setup.
